The lamp base likely originates from West German pottery production in the 1960s/70s – West German Pottery – stylistically belonging to the Fat Lava era. The base is made of glazed ceramic in shimmering red with lighter accents and typical sculptural wave shapes – also known as the pagoda shape. The craftsmanship is reminiscent of designs by Hustadt Lampen or Dümler & Breiden Keramik – both known for their expressive mid-century lamps. However, the base could also be of English origin. The manufacturer Royal Doulton is known for similar shapes with its Sheerlite lamp.
The lamp base has been fitted by an electrician with a new socket, cable with switch, and plug. The cable is a high-quality fabric cable in bright red with a slight sheen. The socket is brass-colored. There was a small chip in the ceramic at the base of the lamp (on the right side from the front). Since the chip was preserved, this flaw could be repaired and covered with a glaze in the same color. It is now barely visible and unobtrusive. The lamp can be placed on a table, sideboard, or occasional table as an eye-catcher, creating a beautiful ambiance.
Shade: Handmade, designed by Roomlight Studio with handmade marbled paper. Very translucent, beautiful play of colors, perfectly matches the base. Dimensions: ø 30 x h 39 cm.
